Chrome overtakes Firefox to become second most loved web browser in Britain Posted: 01 Aug 2011 04:08 AM PDT Google Chrome overpowers Mozilla Firefox in BritainAccording to the latest analytics revealed by Statcounter, it has been observed that Chrome browser from Google has overpowered Firefox from Mozilla to become the second most popular web browser in Britain. Google Chrome currently holds a market share of 22.12% in Great Britain and has gained about 2 percentage point between June and July while both Firefox and IE dropped 1 point each. Mozilla Firefox has slipped to third position and currently holds 21.65% of the total web browser market share. This list of the most popular web browsers in Britain is dominated by one of the oldest and widely used browser from Microsoft i.e. IE (Internet Explorer) which holds 45.51% share. Google Chrome was launched back in 2008, back then, its major advantage over other popular browsers was not security but speed, it was a very fast loading browser powered by search giant's V8 JavaScript Engine back then and now. Chrome has an inventory of web apps and themes which makes it quite lucrative, in fact, it is more than a web browser, by that I mean, you can play Angry Birds on it too, just joking . The recent television advertising for Google Chrome in Britain is probably the reason behind's Chrome sudden surge. In India, that "Archana's Kitchen" ad of Google Chrome is fantastic, since I am a blogger too, I could easily and instantly relate to it, also the tagline "the web is what you make of it" is fantastic, and since Chrome is supported by Google which also has an integrated web album (Picasa), document readers (Google Docs), feed readers (Google Reader), social network (Google+) and blogging tool (Blogger), it gives users loads of opportunities and that might be the reason why people in Britain switched to this rapier web browser. Google would be promoting Chrome furthermore with Television and Internet advertising.
