Google buys Slide Inc. to introduce Photovine photo-sharing app for iOS platform

Google has introduced Photovine, a photo sharing app for iOS platform. Unlike many other photo sharing apps available on iTunes (except for Piictu, discussed later in the article) Photovine lets you add photos according to themes a.k.a. "Vines."

Photovine app is currently available only for iOS platform and not for Android. Photovine was first revealed in July, it is developed by Slide Inc. which was later bought by Google.

What is Photovine?

A vine is like a constantly growing family of photos connected through a common caption created by you, your friends, and people all over the world. Some examples of vines could be: "What Weekends Are Made Of", "Secret Stuffed Animal", "Party People" or "Love of My Life".

How does Photovine from Google Works?

To understand how this app works, let’s assume a situation, you went to a beach and clicked several good shots and uploaded it an album on Facebook or Flickr, now, only your friends can see the album but Photovine not only lets you share your uploaded photographs with your friends but with the whole world and also give them an opportunity to upload their pictures.

You can create Vines using Photovine, it is a like a title for your Album but with interesting consequences, for example, let say you gave your album a title – "A Beautiful Evening," now your Vine is also a Vine for you friends which means that they can upload pictures on the same theme to this Vine a.k.a. album, it is like a public album, for everyone, by everyone (sound cool, right?).

Photovine allows you to share your uploaded pictures and vines with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and contacts in your address book. Though, you won't be able to share the photos with your circles on Google+, which is quite strange.

Photovine User Interface

The UI of Photovine is very well formatted, the photos are visible in grid form, once you click a photo, it opens up along with date, place and caption of the photograph. Also, the photo is accompanied by a small photograph of the contributor, you can click on that to see his/her profile, check out other Vines and photographs uploaded by him/her and also comment on his/her pictures.

Google (Clumsy) Vs. Piictu (Sweet)

Since Photovine was released, it has been compared to Piictu, another photo-sharing app for iOS a lot because they are somewhat developed with the same objective. Some suggest that Photovine is Google's version of Piictu (copied right away), but a Google spokesperson answered that by saying that Photovine was under construction long before Piictu came to life.

What do you think, is it an IP theft?  :P

Apple iPhone 5 Release Date almost confirmed by an AT&T VP

Rumors about the release of Apple iPhone 5 are spreading throughout the internet like Wildfire, earlier this month, it was confirmed that Apple iPhone 5 is going to release in September but then a few weeks later another report came that suggested that iPhone 5 is slated to launch in October and not in September, it seems both dates are somewhat correct according to what AT&T is planning.

According to a trustworthy source, AT&T's VP stated to its employees to get prepared for a "really, really busy" October because iPhone 5 is going to launch in early October this year.

He also communicated to its managers,

"Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly."

which suggests that certainly something is going on within AT&T, they are planning for Big Apple of Smartphone Market to unveil 5th generation of iPhone.

It is expected that Apple is going to announce the official features and release date of Apple iPhone 5 in an event late in September, and the phone would launch in early October.

Let’s hope this piece of information adds some credibility to the release of iPhone 5.
