Lite-On iHES212 12x Blu-ray Combo Drive for HTPCs Posted: 22 May 2011 04:14 AM PDT Lite-On is launching a new internal 12x Blu-ray combo drive, the iHES212 designed especially for use on mini PCs or HTPCs. The new drive measures less than 17mm in length. It can read Blu-ray Disc at up to 12x and burn DVD discs at up to 16x. The Lite-On iHES212 uses SATA interface and supports LightScribe for writing disc label. The drive writes DVD+/-R at up to 16x, DVD-RAM at 12x, DVD+RW at 8x, DVD-RW at 6x and CD-R/RW at up to 48x. The iHES212 costs GBP69. Xi3 ChromiumPC Modular Computer runs Google Chrome OS Posted: 22 May 2011 12:15 AM PDT Modular PC maker Xi3 announced its ChromiumPC modular computer, which is the world’s first desktop computer running Google Chrome OS. The ChromiumPC is actually a version of the company’s Xi3 Modular Computer. It is housed in an aluminum chassis that holds three small but interconnected boards (or modules – The Processor Module, The Primary I/O Module and the Seconadry I/O Module. The Xi3 ChromiumPC is powered by a dual- or single-core 64-bit, x86-based processor with integrated graphics. It measures 4.0- x 3.656- x 3.656-inches and is available in multiple colors, including a chrome-plated chassis.
