After seeing the ICONIA SMART smartphone, ICONIA Tab A100 7-inch tablet and ICONIA Tab A500, here is another member of Acer’s ICONIA family, the ICONIA Tab W500. Unlike other Android-powered family members, the W500 is a slate-style tablet PC running Windows 7. Like Asus’ Eee Pad Transformer, this Windows 7 ICONIA can be used with the optional docking station with full QWERTY keyboard.

Along with the 7-inch Tab A100, Acer will release another Android 3.0 tablet, the ICONIA Tab A500 with 10.1-inch multitouch capacitive touchscreen. Set to compete with Motorola’s XOOM, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 and LG’s Optimus Pad V900, the 10.1-inch A500 is powered by dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 mobile processor for faster browsing, and optimized HD viewing and will be shipped with Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS. The ICONIA Tab A500 has an aluminum casing. It supports Bluetooth, 3G and WiFi and offers HDMI output. There are a 5 Megapixel rear camera and a front-facing camera for video calling. With a bar-type form factor and a large 4.8-inch touchscreen, I am just not sure whether should I call the ICONIA SMART a smartphone or a tablet. While dual-core smartphones are coming, Acer’s SMART packs a 1GHz SnapDragon processor. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbrad OS with Acer custom UI.
The ICONIA SMART features a 4.8-inch large 21:9 touchscreen with 1024×480 resolution, a 8 Megapixel camera with LED flash, Bluetooth, WiFi, DLNA support, HDI output and 6-axis motion sensing (Gyroscope + accelerometer). It has a 2 Megapixel front camera for video calling as well. This 4.8-inch ICONIA has a smoothly curved back.

Ainol, a Chinese PMP maker, is planning an Android 3.0 tablet powered by Cortex-A9-based processor. It is said that the tablet will be getting 1GHz processor with 512MB of memory. It comes with a 1280×760 touchscreen. As the leaked shots show, the Ainol’s Honeycomb tablet will come in white. It has physical buttons instead of touch-sensitive buttons, a front camera for video chat, a microSD card slot, HDMI output and a built-in kickstand.
Just like most Chinese PMPs, we can expect Ainol’s tablet to support almost all media formats without conversion needed.

T-Mobile announced the LG G2x Android smartphone, which is known elsewhere in the world as the LG Optimus 2X. The G2x is boosted by the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz processor and runs a stock version of Android 2.2 OS, meaning no LG custom UI is added.
The dual-core phone features a 4-inch 800×480 touchscreen, a 8 Megapixel main camera with LED flash and auto focus, a 1.3 Megapixel camera for video chat. The phone is capable of Full HD 1080 video recording in MPEG-4/H.264 format and offers HDMI output and DLNA support. The LG G2x comes with 8GB internal memory, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi connectivity, a microSD card slot for up to 32GB card, as well as the DTS Ultra Mobile that includes DTS Envelo and DTS Boost surround sound audio technologies. The LG G2x supports T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 4G network. It will be released later this spring. Asus launches the Eee Pad Transformer Android tablet, which is first announced at the CES 2011. Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 1GHz dual core processor, the Transformer runs the tablet-optimized Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS with Asus’ Waveshare UI and Flash Player 10.2. One of the main features of the tablet is the optional docking station that offers full QWERTY keyboard, touchpad and Android buttons, transformering the Eee Pad into a “full-fledged notebook” for mobile productivity. The docking station also extends the Transformer’s 9.5 hours battery life up to 16 hours.
The Eee Pad Transformer features 10.1-inch 1280×800 IPS touchscreen with durable and scratch-resistant glass and 178-degree viewing angle, a 5 Megapixel main camera and a 1.2 Megapixel front camera for video chat. Sony is going to launch in April its NXCAM HD NEX-FS100 Super 35mm Full HD professional camcorder for broadcasting and production. The FS100 is an interchangeable lens camcorder featuring a large Exmor CMOS sensor equivalent in size to Super35mm film like that used in the PMW-F3 for creating “a rich bokeh effect (beautifully defocused image) to produce the much-desired shallow-focus look associated with top-shelf commercials and feature films.” According to Sony, the “new sensor is designed with outstanding exposure latitude and sensitivity to deliver extraordinary HD images subtle in detail and color gradation while avoiding image artifacts typical of HDSLRs.” The NEX-FS100 does Full HD 1920×1080/60p video at up to 28Mbps and is able to record 1920x1080p images in Slow and Quick motion. It features Sony’s E-mount Interchangeable lens system and supports “α” A-mount lenses via optional LA-EA1 adapter. The camcorder records audio in 16-bit 48KHz LPCM or Dolby Digital Stereo 48KHz. It comes with a 3.5-inch XtraFine LCD display with 1920×480 resolution and offers HDMI output. The camcorder supports imultaneous HD recording to FMU128 and SD or MS Card.
With a modular design and a a compact, lightweight body with detachable grip, handle, and viewfinder tube, the NXCAM HD can be configured for a wide range of shooting situations. The angle of the handgrip can be positioned 360 degrees as desired and the LCD Panel can rotate for left or right side operation.
