Dedicated Application Store for Nook Color eBook Reader

barnes-noble-nook-color-ebook-readerAre you planning to buy a New Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader?

Well if you are then I have news for you that will add another reason to buy Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader over other similar gadgets.

Many people today are going with Android Tablet PCs because of Android Market, there are so many applications on Android Market to download and use that it seems very logical to prefer a Tablet PC rather than a standalone eBook Reader.

Would you like it if I told you that you have now download and install numerous apps on Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader?

The original custom firmware that comes on Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader doesn't support Android Market while some geeky nerds have found a way out; they have rooted the original firmware with a custom firmware which makes access to Android Market Possible.

But those among you who haven't rooted their Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader to the custom firmware need not worry because Barnes and Noble are coming to the rescue.

Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader Apps Store

Barnes and Noble have been working on building a dedicated application portal for their eBook reader but it seems that they are shying away from naming it Nook App Store possible because Apple has patented the term App Store.

The whole picture of patents is very strange… recently Apple sued Amazon.com for naming their dedicated Android Apple Store – Amazon.com "App Store" for Android.

It seems that if a company registers or trademarks a certain keyword, no other company can use it. If it is like that HP should sue Apple since iPaq (HP's oldest PDA) came way before iPhone.

This news burst out on HSN network that is a premium seller of Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader. Surprisingly, they are selling Nook Color for $299.99 which is $50 more than the price it is listed on the official Barnes and Noble Website.

Their version of Nook Color eBook Reader comes with several preloaded eBooks but that doesn't justify a hike of $50 in price because those books are free from copyright i.e. you can upload them manually for free too.

Android on Barnes and Noble Nook Color

Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader would run on Android OS 2.2 and would support flash too. We might see an upsurge in the product of graphic books i.e. animated reading material which would need a good flash supporting device to run.

I haven't used Barnes and Noble Nook Color here in India but I am sure that in coming years the demand for these sorts of gadgets is bound to increase.

Barnes and Noble Nook Color eBook Reader would be launched somewhere in the mid of 2011.

What are you opinions about it?
